  AZENGAR: new elegance for zinc
 Aeroscopia museum in Toulouse

AZENGAR®, the 1st engraved zinc on the market, is now available. This original, expressive material breaks with the traditional aspect of preweathered zinc, transcends the image of zinc and gives it new elegance.

Eco-designed using a brand new industrial procedure, it is the brightest and most matte zinc on the market. It is distinct in that it has an uneven rugged surface which captures the light to create subtle shades of very bright grey that vary according to the degree of sunlight. AZENGAR brings the building envelope alive by transforming and illuminating it, while enhancing neighbouring materials.

Pulhof Castle in Wijnegem – Antwerp Province

Three centuries after its creation and having undergone several restoration stints down through the years, Pulhof Castle in Belgium, which was bequeathed to the Province of Antwerp in 2005, has benefitted from major renovations to restore it to its original glory.

The Louis XVI style mansard roof originally featured significant decorative elements made in “Vieille Montagne” zinc. So it is hardly surprising that for these recent renovations to the castle, almost 100 years after those carried out in 1908, the zinc on the roofing, bull's eye windows, dormer windows, domes, finials and curb members was produced in the same workshops.

VMZINC continues the long tradition of 19th century ornamental metal workers and today offers a catalogue of standard ornaments as well as a range of original models and replicas using period drawings and photographs or directly using parts taken from roofs.

Archizinc Campus Competition n°3: “The city on the city: building upwards”

Last September, VMZINC launched the third edition of Archizinc Campus, the sustainable building competition for European architecture schools.

The aim of this edition is to illustrate the contribution of VMZINC solutions to sustainable building, and also to raise younger generations' awareness of the role of the architect in this type of building.

From 1 September 2014 to 28 February 2015, students will work on the very rich subject of urban densification, especially via roof extensions: “The city on the city: building upwards”.
